OMG, I saw that guy that earlier the same day! He was walking in front of me when I was over by the hardware store and he was talking to himself the entire time. Crazy and a clepto, lovely.
Call your cell phone company, maybe they'll do a tracky thing for you?
Please do file a police report! There's also been a rash of freshly broken car windows up and down fourth street. Emphasize in your police report that you'd like to see more police on patrol around here. It'd be a valiant attempt to make some good of the lousy situation :-0
Already filed a police report, and suspended service to the phone - I should be receiving one in the mail this weekend or early next week. The police came here on Wednesday (I think?) afternoon and talked to Julie and I and said there's not a lot they can do, since it's a business... Since a theft was committed, they can take info about that, but about the suspicious people that are in and around here, they can't do much since we are a public place. Also made a comment about city politicians and officials and budgeting problems and being left to clean up their mess... It's sad but true that these sorts of things are not a high priority until something truly terrible happens. Sigh.
Ugh, I hate police responses like that. It's always the "quality-of-life" crimes that happen first, and when there's no police response, people feel emboldened to get away with bigger and nastier offenses :-(
True story, but of course the problem is much more complex than just petty crimes - I think we could vastly reduce petty crime by solving other problems. but then, those are tied to other issues, and so on down the chain of politics, legislation, society, culture, etc... It's so complicated!
